«Taxes are generally seen as an ‘evil’, because they constitute a sacrifice. To say that taxes are nice comes as something of a surprise. But how can we say that they are ‘nice’? Because they keep life in society going, they are the basis of civil society insofar as we are all called to contribute to the public expenditure, thus supporting through taxes the acheivement of the collective goals that affect us all. And this is possible only through taxes. So, yes, they are a sacrifice, but to achieve a collective interest.»
